I bring over 30 years of experience training dogs and their people. I also have experience working with shelter/rescue dogs that may have their own set of issues.

My services designed for individuals that need help handling canine behavior problems and prefer private or small class training sessions.

The consultations will help you to understand why dogs act the way they do and assist you with basic behavior and training issues.
The classes are designed to help you to train your dog to be a more enjoyable companion.
The gentle methods advocated are based on the positive principles of operant conditioning and an understanding of how dogs learn.

Sometimes owners need to know where to start when dealing with their dog’s behavior problems.
Often new puppy owners just want to know how to get off on the right foot in training their puppies.
Occasionally, behavioral issues will arise after a significant change in the household.

Behavioral Consultations
These available for those who are dealing with specific canine issues and/or problems.
More dogs are turned in to shelters for behavior problems than any other reason.
Consultations are by appointment only. They last between one hour and 90 minutes.

Private Tutoring Classes
These classes are available for those who prefer one-on-one attention and don't want their dog to "get lost" in a large class situation.
This is a 6 week course and the curriculum is designed around you and your dogs needs.
The classes can be set to fit your schedule.

Puppy Classes
These are semi-private or private classes that feature the AKC S.T.A.R. Program
Puppies under 5 months are eligible for these classes.

In Home Training
These are a combination of Behavioral Consultations and Training Classes in your home, neighborhood or around town.

Obedience Manners Classes (Pre-CGC)
These are semi-private or private classes for dogs over 5 months.
Those under 1 year of age are still eligible for the AKC S.T.A.R. Program

Canine Good Citizen Classes (CGC)
This class is designed to help you train your dog to become a Canine Good Citizen and pass the AKC's Canine Good Citizen test.
All breeds are welcome.

Drop In Conformation Handling Classes
A small personal class that teaches the dog (and you) how to show in the conformation ring.

The Performance Ring - Obedience, Rally and More!
These are group classes for the sports of Competition Obedience, Rally and Canine Musical Freestyle.
The group classes are offered on Wednesdays at The Dude Ranch Pet Resort in Glen Allen, VA. These classes
are run on a continuing basis and you may sign your dog up at any time for 6 sessions at a cost of $110 or try the class out for $20 for one class.

Thursday Nights Drop-In Run-Throughs and Practice at The Dude Ranch Pet Resort.
5:00 pm - 7:30 pm two rings of run-throughs - Rally in one and Novice and Open in the other.
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm One ring run-through - Novice, Open and Utility.
$10 per person.

Private Coaching for the performance ring is also avalible.

Puppy & Litter Evaluations
These evaluations consist of two types.

To help responsible breeder evaluate the puppies in their litters.
To help people wishing to adopt ot purchase a puppy select the right puppy for them

Appointments and Classes are scheduled for the first available day and time

that matches your scheduling preferences.

**Success in changing animal behavior cannot be guaranteed by anyone.**

This is a red flag when it comes to selecting a trainer or a school.

We are dealing with a living, individual creature and humans to boot!
However, if all family members follow instructions,
and learn to reward appropriate responses, success can be achieved in most cases.

Dogs view the world differently than humans.
If you use gentle, positive methods of training
you can help your dog become the best companion possible.
