The Positive Way to Train

Ann & Charm About the Trainer
     Ann & Charm
My name is Ann Priddy and I have been an instructor of dog obedience
classes for 30 years. I have accumulated over 2000 hours of
instructing with my specialty being  on and off leash obedience, puppy
training and problem solving. I love coaching for  Obedience, Rally
and Canine Musical Freestyle. I am very proud of the many successes of
my students.

When it comes to training I enjoy being able to relate and train not
only dogs but their owners as well.

My dogs have competed in AKC performance events, conformation, UKC
events and the sport of Canine Freestyle. I served as vice president
of The Canine Freestyle Federation and as vice president on the
founding board of The Musical Dog Sport Association where I continue
as an executive advisor to the board.

From 1984 to 2006 I was a regular columnist for Front and
Finish  "The Dog Trainer's News", writing the Terrific
Terriers column. I still contribute to the magazine on an occasional
basis. I have  been a contributing writer to many other dog related publications.

I enjoy given seminars in the US and Canada on various training topics. Contact me if you are interested in learning more.

As an American Kennel Club Canine Ambassador I give presentations to groups such as dog clubs, local community organizations, schools and the U.S. Post Office.

For owners who want to explore the sport of dogs with their canine family member I teach competition Obedience and Rally classes at the
DUDE RANCH PET RESORT, located in Glen Allen, VA. We cover AKC and UKC events open to ALL dogs - purebred and mixed breeds. There are also classes in Canine Musical Freestyle for even more fun with your dog!

I have served as an instructor at all levels of training, as the Training Director and as the President of my local Obedience Club where I am still an active member.

I from 2006 to 2007 I worked in the Admissions Department of the Richmond SPCA, the department where they evaluate animals for adoption. This has given me a special insight and empathy for shelter and rescue dogs. Often they need a different approach to training to help them successfully fit in to family life. I recommend the private classes for these special dogs as group classes may be overwhelming.

Currently I am a member of:

    * The Cairn Terrier Club of America

    * The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club - USA

    * The Potomac Cairn Terrier Club

    * Richmond Dog Obedience Club

    * Sight Hound Organization of Tidewater.

    * The Musical Dog Sport Association

I grew up with a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and a Chihuahua mix.
Over the years I have loved, trained and shown Cairn Terriers, Nova Scotia Duck
Tolling Retrievers,a Whippet and a couple of cats. Animals have always played an important
part in my life and is reflected in my artwork.

Dog training is my avocation as well as my vocation.
